A project by Alessandro Poli e Francesca De Giorgi
SERVOMUTO was born in 2007 to manipulate lampshades.
Old bedside lamps, dusty chandelier, lamp covers from the grandmother’s house, are reassembled with remnant of blankets, oversized braids, randomly found objects or things that were thrown away, forgotten or rejected.
Classical living room fabrics are contaminated by neo-gothic prints à la Aubrey Breadsley and by military memorabilia of the Red Army. Excess, contrast and alteration, going through the hands of an anarchist upholsterer, bring light to “the good things of bad taste”.
Unique pieces, proudly hand-made, by more than one pair of hands, in Italy.
